First Blog Post

Looks like this is it.

The blog is set up. I was expecting it, but had a certain doubt: would there really be a way to write a blog through spacemacs – an emacs distribution? I mean, it could pretty much do anything. I write in org-mode and export to LaTeX and Word. I keep my TODO lists and deadlines to date. Capture notes and meeting minutes using templates. Check up on my portfolio, the weather. You can even draw things using artist-mode. I use it as a python and clojure IDE. The greatest part is that everything is text. Text has been around since computers have been invented and the file format isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

I may, in parallel to what this blog is really supposed to be about, put in some examples and code snippets in here. We’ll see. I’ve also set up a github repository where I will put in code and jupyter notebooks.

What this blog is really supposed to be about

This blog has been created as a journal for the Deep Learning course I’m taking at Université de Montréal given by Prof. Aaron Courville who’s part of MILA.

The project consists of conditionally generating a part of an image based on an incomplete image and a textual description. There are many ways of approaching the problem and I really hope I’ll be able to explore the various options, but most importantly, I hope I’ll get it to draw something meaningful!

This actual file

Yes. I wrote this small post from spacemancs. Just to show you how to upload the file, here’s the actual source code for this posting.

even draw things using =artist-mode=. I use it as a python and clojure IDE. The
greatest part is that everything is text. Text has been around since computers

examples and code snippets in here. We'll see. I've also set up a [[https://github.com/vderm][github]]

To create a new entry, run =org2blog/wp-new-entry= (use M-x, then type the
command), then run =org2blog/wp-login= to login, and, finally,
=org2blog/wp-post-buffer-and-publish= to upload the file and publish.
=org2blog/wp-logout= to logout. That's it!
